After four years, my love for beauty is finally coming back!
Last December, we just had a lot of social occasions which kind of led me to putting on makeup again. It was a new experience since I now have dry and flaky skin instead of the usual acne-prone-oily-skin that I've had since my teens. The products in my bag just weren't doing it anymore, so I knew I had to discover new makeup.
This 2024 I promised myself I would rediscover beauty again. I'm in the search for non-drying makeup and skincare products that's good for kinda-aging skin because I'm already in my thirties. I want to try some eye creams, some SPF, also some lip liners, so here are some products that I've purchased this month.
January Beauty Haul
1. Glossier Cloud Paint in Wisp
The product that started it all... at least in the blush category. I know that Glossier's Cloud Paint has been out for years, but this is the first time I'm trying it. I wasn't really into cream products in my early days, but my, my, how times have changed. Ever since my skin became dry, cream blushes have been my go-to, so I believe it's finally time to try the OG blush from Glossier.

2. Detail Cosmetics Lip Trace Precision Lip Liner
Currently 33 and I've noticed that my lip lines are getting lighter. I never really believed in lip liners before, but now I want to use them. Haha. I actually have a lipstick that's a bit cool for me so I will surely be playing and layering some colors.

3. Strokes Flawless Veil Finishing Powder and Strokes Flawless Veil Cooling Setting Mist
I have been so impressed with Strokes Cosmetics foundation that I wanted to try their whole makeup line. I'm an avid user of their brow products, their primer, and their blushes so I know they have amazing quality.
4. VICE Cosmetics Lasting Liner and Brow Pomade
VICE Cosmetics' brow pencil in ash brown has replaced my Anastasia Beverly Hills. And since ash brown is always sold out, I wanted to try their brow pomade version. I use ABH and Colourpop, so I have a few expectations with this one. Heard good things about their eyeliner too, so I'm very excited for that.

Garnier Bright Complete Brightening Scrub Face Wash Review
This is the first Garnier product I've ever used. I know, crazy right? I've been interested in makeup and skincare for about eight years now and I still haven't tried anything from this powerhouse. I believe this is in the L'Oreal group of families and my, my, have I been missing out.
I actually thought this was expensive, but it was roughly around 100 to 200 depending on the size and you actually need just a tiny bit of product to wash your whole face. This claims to be exfoliating and there were small exfoliating beads but they were very, very gentle on skin. I barely had any peeling skin nor dry skin, but somehow I felt that my skin was lightening and brightening in just a week. This face wash has a very mild smell but it's strong enough in the sense that it can remove dirt, oil, and even makeup.
Honestly, I'm very skeptical about lightening products that promise you a week's work, but the Garnier Brightening Face Wash really delivers. I forgot my usual facial wash at home and I bought and used it for a week, and I immediately noticed the difference.
Overall, this is an amazing facial wash that delivers their claims and promises. I didn't even use any toner or whatever, and yet it lightened my acne marks in no time. It's not overly drying, no peeling of skin, it doesn't sting nor hurt. It's such a great product that I'll surely repurchase in a heartbeat.

Fresh Morning Dew Cooling Lip and Cheek Tint Review
At first, I only had one shade of the Happy Skin Fresh Morning Dew Cooling Lip and Cheek Tint. And then after trying it out for a month, I decided to get one more, and then another, et voila, before I know it, I already had five.
I rarely finish lipsticks... To this day, I think I've only finished like four lipsticks in my life, and one of them is the Happy Skin Cooling Lip and Cheek Tint in Latte Fix. What caught my attention really is the packaging. It comes in this frosted glass which immediately shows the lipstick color and it just really looks pleasing to the eyes. I also like the doe foot applicator that it has and how it spreads the color evenly on my lips.
The texture is really soft and milky to the lips. It has this cold minty feeling that doesn't last long and it's so mild that it wouldn't burn your lips. I also tried to use this as a cheek tint blush and you still feel that tingly feeling but it quickly goes away.
Unfortunately, longevity is a blow. This looks so natural on the lips but it doesn't last long no matter what you do. Even if you decide not to eat nor drink, it just doesn't last up to four hours. Sometimes it can pass as mask proof and have no transfers, but most of the time there's a minimal transfer. I also have to note that some of the shades such as Fresh Brew is something that you have to shake because the formula just doesn't mix too well.
Overall, I love how it feels and how it looks on the lips. The hydration and moisturizing claims doesn't last long, but this is just something that's easy and quickly to use. I love using it for an errand day or just on days where I want a wash of color. Love the formula, just wish it would last longer. I definitely recommend!

When Maeve was a baby, I was always strolling her outside. When Maeve became a toddler, we started "hiking" in our area and biking everyday. It's been two years now and my skin isn't happy with all the sun I've been getting. So yeah, I've been buying every SPF I can get my hands on to find out what brand I like.
This QuickFX Sunscreen comes in a full size tube and a mini one which contains 10grams. I really like that I can buy the small version first to try and test the product out for a few days. Packaging is a twist cap, very travel friendly. I've used various QuickFX products before and their packaging are just spot on for carrying around. No product spilling ever!

The sunscreen is very lightweight, not too thick but not too watery either. It's easy to blend, the skin absorbs it quickly, it doesn't have any scent, and it leaves a natural matte finish. I noticed that it has a bit of a tint which evens out my skin tone and it makes it look a lot better. This also instantly brightens up my under eyes and blurs out my huge dry pores.
Another thing I noticed is that this has amazing oil control and it looks great under makeup. I know this isn't marketed as a primer, but the results of this SPF used as a primer are amazing. It leaves you with smooth skin and a good canvas to put foundation and cream products on top of. The SPF50 doesn't disappoint too as I've never had sunburn whenever I used the QuickFX Sunscreen.
Overall, I really love this product. I wasn't expecting it to be this good and I'll surely be buying the full size product when I'm done with the sachet. When used alone, it keeps my skin looking fresh and oils at bay for like half the day. The oil control is just amazeballs and I'll definitely recommend this to friends.

A super gentle cleansing experience.
It is a nourishing (and pH-balanced), creamy gel face wash that’s kind to every skin type under the sun. It’s formulated with five skin conditioners (like Allantoin and Pro-Vitamin B5) that leave your skin feeling baby soft (not like you need to rush for moisturizer afterwards).
Instead of traditional soap, we used Poloxamer. It’s the same mild cleansing agent that’s found in contact lens solution, so it’s safe for eyes (and doesn’t sting when removing your mascara!)
The “milky” phase conditions skin to keep it fresh, happy, and moisturized. The “jelly” phase works to dissolve oil, dirt, and makeup. It’s gentle enough to use daily, twice a day, or more!

Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser Review
Honestly, I thought this was just a gimmick from Glossier. I've used their skin tint, hated it when I was younger and super in love with it when I became a mom. They're well known for their makeup and "clean girl" aesthetic so I never really thought they were serious about their skincare. But hello there Milky Jelly Cleanser!
This is one of the gentlest cleansers I've used. The feeling is very similar to Cetaphil products and products I've used from various dermatologists. The first time I used it, I was really caught off guard and I thought I was using something I bought from my derma.
It comes in a plastic bottle and the pump is just "quality". It dispenses an equal amount every time I use it, no issues, it really feels like they chose their materials well. It doesn't have a cap but you can twist the pump to open or close it and I've never had it spill on me. It's very travel-friendly!
The scentless cleanser truly feels like jelly on skin. It doesn't bubble up as much, but I do feel that it does a good job in removing some of my makeup, especially the powder products. I use about two pumps on my whole face if I'm not wearing makeup and about three to four pumps for a full face. It doesn't have any sticky feeling while I'm lathering it on, and it's easy to rinse with water. I guess the extra ingredients they have in it works because it does leave my skin feeling super soft and moisturized.
Overall, the Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser was a bit of a treat. I really thought it wouldn't do much, but yeah, not only can it rid your face of all the dirt and oils, but it can also remove your makeup and mascara in the gentlest way too. Sadly, the price is a bit high for my liking, but at least, now I know that the Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser works. I finally had that "Oh, so this is why people love it". Expensive, but it gets the work done!
