I've always had a love-hate relationship with NARS' packaging. Love their formula, but their products with the black matte packaging, ugh, it just gets so sticky and dirty after a while and it's difficult to clean.
So, when I saw this shiny gorgeous Afterglow Lip Balm, I thought to myself, this might reignite my love for NARS. I mean, I do love their Orgasm blush and I've bought it numerous times -- on the other hand, I also have their concealer which I still haven't opened after three months. So, what's it gonna be?

Packaging is really pretty. It comes in a matte black box, typical of their brand, but once you open it and saw the lip balm, it was just stunning. The lipstick bullet is slim, square, reflective in all sides, and it had weight.
Honestly, I felt a "wow" factor at these Afterglow Lip Balms packaging compared to Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks. The CT lipsticks felt plasticky and very cheap for their price. But these NARS ones, my, my, you really feel the luxury.
And while I was giddy and happy with the packaging, the formula was underwhelming. What else did I expect for a lip balm, right?
It just felt like your normal everyday lip balm, even the color of Sex Symbol wasn't anything you haven't seen. The NARS Afterglow Lip Balm applies smooth, sheer, not greasy, feels light, and there wasn't any strong scent. It was moisturizing and it was pretty soft that it would go in through dry patches of your lips and act as an even layer.
I've been using it for three months now and I enjoy using it before going to bed. I always wake up with soft unchapped lips. The moisturizing effect doesn't last as long during the daytime, as I may be just be drinking it away or I may be wearing a mask. It's obviously not mask-proof and it's something that would easily get smudged.
Would I recommend the NARS Afterglow Lip Balm? If you're looking for a high-end lip balm that turns heads when you're in the powder room, yes, sure. It's light, gorgeous color, moisturizing, and the packaging is really well thought out.
If you don't have the money to splurge, just get a typical drugstore lip balm. It works just as well, only this doesn't give you greasy lips like some cheaper ones do.
