Robots and Dolls Salon Vista Mall Santa Rosa Review
If no one has told you yet, baby and toddler haircuts are super savage!
When my nephew was younger, I always wondered why toddler haircuts were super expensive... and then I saw how everything went down. Don't get me wrong, he was a pretty chill baby so it was such a breeze, but the other babies next to him were all having meltdowns.
I'm telling you, this was years ago and this was iPad generation already -- so kids salons all had trinkets and gadgets and stuffies, just about everything to entertain babies and it was still one hell of a fight.
Anyway... fast forward to 2022 with my own kid...
All I can say is "HAHAHAHAHAHAHA".
The Robots and Dolls Salon is located at the second floor of Vista Mall Santa Rosa. It caters to boys and girls and actually, adults too. They have a ton of packages for kids, but they also have a first haircut package that retails for PHP 780 and it includes a picture and certificate. So of course, I opted for the first haircut package because I wanted the stylist to know and "prepare" their self that this is the first hair cut and there will be tears. Haha.
Ambience is pretty good. The salon is clean, bright, and cozy. They have two regular chairs for kids/adults and they also have two car chairs for younger children. They also have a selection of wooden toys and stuffed animals, and of course, the iPad with Cocomelon, Peppa Pig, Baby Shark, just about any show that your kids watch.
Now, for the haircut experience... wow, it's as dramatic as I imagined. I just knew Maeve was going to have a meltdown and she did. She doesn't like strangers especially when they're talking to her or touching her. It was meltdown mania and there were a lot of crying and even kicking but kudos to the stylist and assistant as they were calm, collected, focused, and had diversion tactics too.
Maeve went from sitting down the baby car to me eventually having to hold her while having her haircut and it was pretty difficult because the plastic cover was sliding off. But hey, at the end of the day it was done. I would say it took about 20 to 30 minutes all in all. There was a point where Maeve was crying so hard I thought she was going to puke. All I had in my mind was darn it, I don't have extra clothes for myself.
After all the drama, Maeve's hair became a pretty pixie cut. It looked really cute on her and it looked like she actually lost weight. Lol. I thought that because her hair was all over the place and so short that it wouldn't be a good idea to cut it, but lo and behold, the style really suited her.
Robots and Dolls Salon Review
Overall, I really liked our experience at the Robots and Dolls Salon and I'll definitely go back.
As a first time mom, I already knew what was going to happen and how expensive children's haircuts are, but I find the price justifiable. Cutting children's hair is no walk in the park. You have to have the patience and focus to finish the cut all while having a screaming child (and probably kicking child like mine) in front of you. I just know I couldn't have done it by myself. They print the certificate after the cut and it's just a nice remembrance for our first baby.
Maeve's hair grows super slow, like hello, we're almost 2 years old here, so we probably won't be going back anytime soon. But I'd like to thank Maeve's stylist that day for being so calm with my baby and for taking lots of breaks as he can see she needs it.
Next time, I'll be more prepared with lots of clothes and toys. Haha. I'd definitely recommend this salon to my southie friends. We had a great time.
